Max Burley & Company was named after a wonderful woman that grew-up in the coal mining region of Kentucky and studied "home economics" in college.  She taught her children the art of sewing at a very young age. Maxine was born in the early 1900's and her life was cut short due to complications from breast cancer.  Today, one of her son's has founded this company in order to honor her and promote charitable contributions to breast cancer research.
